Randy Cluff has a 15 year background in the field of renewable energy. His passion for sustainability and belief in youth being the agents for social change, has driven him to create and drive the Kingston Sustainability Centre. Randy is originally from Waterloo, Ontario  but has quickly acquainted himself with the Kingston community and continues to do so.

Community Education and Outreach - Eco Canada Internship

Jean Blair is a recent graduate of Dalhousie University with a BSc honours degree in Biology.  Arriving in Kingston in January 2010, Jean wanted to get involved in the field of Sustainability and make a difference in the community.  When she walked into the KSC in the spring, she was thrilled to hear about an opportunity to lead the Join the Journey project being launched out of the centre.  Jean has now shifted her attention from JTJ to the Sustainability Centre for the fall and will be looking to develop volunteer programs and the community classroom.  Contact us to get involved!

Associate Sustainability Intern - Rachael Melnik-Proud

 

 

 

  Rachael Melnik-Proud is a second year Environmental Science student at the University of Guelph.  Growing up with an understanding that the environment is just an extension of herself, she has a keenness to learn more about sustainable innovations.Rachael is an outdoor enthusiast with a background in social and environmental issues. She has a positive and energetic personality and enjoys sharing her knowledge with whoever is interested. 

 

 

 

Sustainability Programs Manager  - Youth Eco Intern

With a in Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability, Dan Hendry's role at the KSC has been to drive Kingstonians through the Centre and engage in conversations about taking sustainable steps in daily life. Dan’s knowledge and drive for sustainable development has helped the Centre itself become a sustainable space. The flooring was donated by a leading company in sustainable engineering, the lighting has been retrofitted to higher energy efficiency lighting, and the Centre has also been supplied with a programmable thermostat – not only saving valuable energy, but also saving valuable dollars to put into KSC programming.

Public Education & Outreach - Youth Eco Intern

Katie McKenzie's knowledge and background in teaching has been essential for creating curriculum-based programs to cater to school groups from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Since February, the Centre has hosted several schools and plans to see more in the future. Part of the KSC has been created as a community classroom space, not only for school groups, but for anyone in the community wishing to hold meetings, seminars, workshops or courses with some focus on sustainability.
